Standalone server installation and integration

The A.nnotate server is now available for installation on your own servers. Installing A.nnotate on your own servers has the following advantages:

  • You have complete control of where your documents are stored
  • You can keep confidential documents on your intranet and add additional access controls
  • The number of documents is limited only by hard disk space
  • Better performance for uploading and viewing documents
  • Ability to integrate with existing document management or content management systems

If you do not wish to install a server yourself, you can use our hosted service where you can create a private individual or group account for annotating documents on our servers. We can also set up and maintain dedicated A.nnotate servers for your company if you have particularly high volumes of documents or have additional security requirements.

Server requirements

The current version of the A.nnotate server runs on a Linux server with Apache and PHP 5. To install it, you will need root access to your server and familiarity with a linux command line. Once installed, access and use of the system is as easy as using the online service at A.nnotate.com. You can install the A.nnotate system on a server on your intranet (behind your company firewall) or on a dedicated web server.
